Welcome to Upton Cross

October 28th, 2008

We are a rural school in deepest darkest Cornwall (Upton Cross, Nr. Liskeard).  We are a small school of approximately 85 pupils and we have a large staff of teachers, teaching assistants, lunchtime supervisors, secretaries, helpful parents and friends ….. oh and the Headteacher!  The children of Class 4 started a new adventure last year creating an on-line diary of their activities, experiences and events, not only in their class but throughout the school.  Each week a group of Year 5/6 pupils will write a diary entry and upload photographs and samples of work.  We have a new editing team – Ella and Oliver.  They are making entries for Autumn 2008 and asking other children to contribute.

We are a school that is very involved in Education for Sustainable Development and Global Education.  We have several awards including Healthy Schools and Eco Status.  We have friends around the world in India, Spain and Africa and contacts in America and we were recently at the Teaching Awards representing Sustainable Schools in the South West region.  We are a school that hopes to prepare children for a bright future.

We are a yr 6/7 class from Adelaide, Australia. We stumbled across your blog this morning and was wondering:
    1. How long have you been blogging?
    2. How many students in your class?
    3. What is the time difference between you and us?
    4. What’s the weather like at the moment for you?
    5. What does your class do for sport/fitness lessons?
    6. Do you have any crazy/funny/cool teachers at your school?
    7. Does your class go on the blog site often?
    8. Do you know any Aussie slang?
    9. Do you have a school sports day?
    10. How many classes in your school?
    11. Are you looking forward to losing the Ashes?
Hope to hear back from you soon.
